There are some things that are universal to all mothers. They love to receive notes from their kids. It starts early, scribbled drawings with the first word they learned to spell, M-O-M. The pictures get the best place in the house, the refrigerator. As children grow the pictures become clearer and the writing more legible, until for many of us inexplicably the opposite happens and the handwriting becomes scrawl. What to do when we want to give mothers, our guests of honor, at our brunch something more than our usual card filled with scratched sentiments of love? Calligraphy! Calligraphy is defined as the art of beautiful handwriting, and a true calligrapher is just that, an artist. A personalized note on Mother's Day is the sort of special touch moms love, and want to put on the refrigerator. Los Angeles based calligrapher Bonnie Ebbs, provided a few samples of different writing styles for Mother's Day notes. They are beautiful and only the tip of what she is capable of producing. Calligraphy is also an excellent way to bring artistic detail to an event. Try personalized notes, seating cards, and menus at your next fete and let your guests know just how special they are.
